After its acquisition of La Joux-Perre and its Arnold & Son and Angelus brands, Japanese watchmaker Citizen has finally unveiled a new in-house movement — its first in 10 years — with the help of its subsidiary.

Tapping into the expertise of the Swiss movement manufacturer, Citizen crafts the entirety of its Caliber 0200 automatic movement in Japan, bringing together the best of both worlds. With a power reserve of a trusty 60 hours, the movement sits within a brushed 40mm stainless steel case and a minimalistic bezel, designed in harmony with the integrated bracelet crafted from the same material, and finished with both brushed and polished surfaces for a welcome dash of contrast. The black dial itself then completes the look with a textured, electroformed surface, creating what the brand calls a “sand-ripple pattern,” with simple sword hands paired timelessly with bar indexes, and a small seconds at 6 o’clock.

Releasing this fall, the Citizen’s new Caliber 0200-carrying timepiece will be available over on its website for $6,000 USD.

Elsewhere in the world of watches, Braun is introducing its first-ever automatic watch.
