Summary

  • Bernhardt & Vella’s “No More Private” marks the studio’s first private furniture collection
  • Debuted during Milan Design Week, the initial pieces include a coffee table and two armchairs
  • The designs emphasize intuitive, natural forms meant to integrate into lived spaces

Ellen Bernhardt and Paola Vella, the duo behind Bernhardt & Vella, have long viewed design as more than just a profession — it’s a language, a way of living and an evolving dialogue. After over 15 years of collaboration with leading Made in Italy brands, they have refined their approach to industrial production. While working within structured commercial frameworks has shaped their skills, they sought a deeper and more personal form of creative expression. Their latest project, “No More Private,” marks their first private furniture collection, designed to blend seamlessly into lived-in spaces rather than follow fleeting trends.

Debuted at Milan Design Week 2025, “No More Private” is rooted in Bernhardt & Vella’s home-studio in Via Popoli Uniti, Milan. The 150-square-meter space serves as both a living environment and creative laboratory, shaped by a renovation that preserves its original layout while subtly redefining its entrance. Within this layered interior, “No More Private” takes form as more than just furniture — it embodies intuitive and natural design. The first three pieces – a coffee table and two armchairs- reflect this philosophy.

The ROCK STEADY coffee table contrasts a solid travertine base with a lightweight polished steel frame, creating an interplay of perspectives and reflections. The SOFT BLOCK armchair, derived from a cubic form, transforms through subtraction into a comfortable and structured seat, balancing minimalism with ergonomic support.

Similarly, the ONE PLUS armchair embraces geometric simplicity, featuring a two-tone, striped-like design that enhances visual dimension. Its body is upholstered in soft mohair, adding a tactile element to its structured form. Each piece in the collection is designed to adapt, transform, and integrate effortlessly into diverse interiors, reinforcing the idea that No More Private is not just furniture — it’s a philosophy of living with design.
