Tyshawn Jones Slaps Supreme With $26 Million USD Defamation Lawsuit
Pro-skater Tyshawn Jones has hit Supreme with $26 million lawsuit alleging defamation and breach of contract from the Luxottica-owned streetwear brand. According to court documents filed on Monday, May 12 in the Manhattan Supreme Court, Jones is seeking damages of $25 million USD and an extra $1.25 million USD he alleges should have been disbursed through his original contract with the brand. Jones’ relationship with Supreme amounts to over 13 years, beginning when he was only 11 years old, however, the brand severed ties with him quickly just last September. Supreme claimed that Jones’ appearance in another brand’s photoshoot from August 2024 breached the contract they inked with the skater. Jones alleges that his termination was a “pretext for cost-cutting,” accusing Supreme of falsely telling “multiple third parties” that Jones was “kicked off” the brand for breach of contract.
Glenn Marten’s First Collection for Maison Margiela Will Be for Couture
Maison Margiela has confirmed that its new creative director, Glenn Martens, will debut his first collection under the Maison’s “Artisanal” Haute Couture, scheduled for July 7 to 10th in Paris. In a statement shared to WWD, the brand stated, “This marks the beginning of an inspiring new chapter for the maison, rooted in our core creative values and shaped by Margiela’s couture heritage. Under Glenn’s direction, couture will continue to ignite creativity for the brand and drive boundary-pushing designs.” While Glenn Martens ultimately left his post at Y/Project late last year, the designer is still present. at Diesel, where he has led an ambitious creative turnaround. Dick’s Sporting Goods has agreed to purchase Foot Locker Inc. in a $2.4 billion USD deal, in hopes of expanding its international presence, according to The Wall Street Journal. Under the agreement, Dick’s will utilize both cash-on-hand and new debt to acquire Foot Locker, and shareholders can either take $24 USD in cash (a 66% premium based on Foot Locker’s average share price from the last 60 days) or 0.1168 shares of Dick’s stock, per CNBC.“By joining forces with DICK’S, Foot Locker will be even better positioned to expand sneaker culture, elevate the omnichannel experience for our customers and brand partners, and enhance our position in the industry,” said Foot Locker CEO Mary Dillon, adding that she is “confident this transaction represents the best path for our shareholders and other stakeholders.”.
Pharrell Williams Launches JOOPITER Marketplace
Pharrell Williams‘ auction platform JOOPITER has launched a new e-commerce platform with a new instant purchase feature for its luxurious and pre-owned collectibles. Joopiter Marketplace will launch with items from some of Pharrell’s circle, including artist Tom Sachs, jeweler Lorraine Schwartz, entrepreneur and gallerist Easy Otabor and music executive Steven Victor. John Auerbach, chief executive officer of Joopite, told WWD in a statement, “Over the past three-and-a-half years, Joopiter has built an incredibly loyal following of collectors through our auctions who are also hungry for a proposition that’s more instant. On Wednesday, Burberry presented a cost savings plan aimed at a gain of 100 million pounds by fiscal 2027. The efforts were outlined as the company posted an operating loss of 3 million pounds in fiscal year 2025, per a report from WWD. The plan outlined by CEO Schulman and CFO Ferry gave the company’s stock a boost, pushing Burberry shares up 16% on the London Stock Exchange. . Kith is has reopened its Manhattan flagship store with a fully remodeled concept. Nestled in NYC’s Nolita area, the renovated retail outpost boasts a contemporary interior design across three floors. Finished with white oak, the first floor is dedicated entirely to the Kith Men’s collection while the second floor, decorated with dark walnut details, houses a mix of apparel and accessories from multiple brands.
